Summer of faith and fun at Camp Gray
The woodsy campsite was abuzz with activity during the last week of Camp Gray. Campers talked, laughed, and engaged in their new favorite game, played inside an octagon, which they call “Panda Ball.”

Closing rural post offices makes no sense

My first pastorate was St. Patrick Parish, Benton. The Venerable Father Samuel Mazzuchelli, a Dominican priest, served there as pastor from 1849 to 1864.
Brides of yesteryear should be applauded for modest wedding dress styles

I just wanted to comment on something in the Catholic Herald article “Balancing Fashion and Faith” (August 11 issue) which was regarding selecting modest wedding dresses.
As I read the article out loud to my husband, I was THRILLED to see my sentiments communicated so clearly and succinctly about the need for modest wedding dresses. I recently did an alteration to a friend’s wedding dress to accomplish her goal of having a modest wedding gown.
Safety first: Review behavior as students head back to school
Soon millions of students from pre-school through college will be heading back to school. Many of them will be walking, riding their bikes, or taking the bus to and from school.
I can still remember walking about eight blocks to Blessed Sacrament School in La Crosse (we did get car rides in bad weather) when I was in grade school. When I was older, I was able to ride my bicycle.

As I drove through the rolling hills, passing by neat fields of corn waving gently in the breeze and cows resting in the fields, I could envision the early settlers of the Perry area as they arrived in the 1800s.
