Sister Antoinette Drabeck, OP, dies

SINSINAWA — Sister Antoinette Drabeck, OP, died Nov. 26, 2012, at St. Dominic Villa. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Nov. 29, 2012, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.

Sister Antoinette made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1946, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1949. She taught for 29 years and ministered as a home health caregiver for six years, as a pastoral associate for eight years, as support staff for seven years and as a medical assistant for three years. Sister Antoinette served in Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Illinois, Alabama, Iowa, California, Michigan and Minnesota.

In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Antoinette served as arrangement facilitator for the Dominican Education Center, Sinsinawa, 1981-1983.

Sister Antoinette was born March 8, 1927, in Chicago, the daughter of John and Antoinette (Vickocil) Drabeck. Her parents; two sisters, Antoinette Moore and Agnes Piccirilli; and one brother, James Drabeck, preceded her in death. She is survived by nieces, nephews and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 66 years.
