The new Women’s Care Center in Madison is planning an open house on Saturday, May 19, from 1 to 4 p.m. to celebrate its successful first four months of operation and allow the public to see the crisis pregnancy center located at 3711 Orin Rd. on Madison’s east side.

Mission trip to Haiti
OREGON — In January 2010, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit Haiti, the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere. News coverage scenes showed massive and widespread devastation.
It is estimated that 316,000 people died and 1,000,000 people were made homeless as a result of the earthquake.

This past Sunday we heard the moving Gospel passage of “the vine and the branches,” wherein Jesus makes clear that He, Himself, is the true vine to which we must all remain attached, and only through which can we bear any fruit.
Encouraging mothers: Society can do more to support mothers and mothers-to-be
We all need mothers. Obviously we wouldn’t be here if our mothers didn’t give us life. Yet, as we look forward to Mother’s Day on this Sunday, May 13, I think we need to examine what our society is doing to encourage and support mothers and mothers-to-be.
