Christ is our hope and our peace

This past weekend we heard the moving story of the man healed by Jesus of leprosy (Mk 1:40-45). Now, it’s a miraculous story of Jesus healing someone from a painful and humiliating disease, and that in its own right is worthy of our consideration.

Teens attend annual Frassati Fest held in Wisconsin Dells

To the left of the main stage at Frassati Fest, there was a photo booth.

The more than 400 participants, leaders, and guests, could wear silly costume accessories, hold flags, or hold each other, and get their pictures taken for later memory and social media use.

Christ’s Easter gift to us: Sacrament of Reconciliation

Pope Francis encourages us Catholics to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Lent, the season of conversion.

Beginning with St. Peter, popes and bishops have taught that in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Christ forgives our sins and helps us to grow spiritually as Peter did.

On Good Friday, Peter, who bragged that he would never deny Christ, denied him three times.

Dorothy Day’s granddaughter visits Madison

MADISON — “If you’re admiring my grandmother, you’re not paying attention.”

Those were strong words said by the granddaughter of Dorothy Day, but perhaps true meaning one shouldn’t focus on the women herself, but the work that needs to be done, and what that means for you in your life.

Day is known for being a driving force behind the Catholic Worker Movement, which tackled issues of social justice. Day’s cause for sainthood is underway with her currently being designated as a “Servant of God”.

Scientists prove the existence of God

Spirituality for Today
Fr. John Catoir

Recently, I came across an amusing cartoon depicting two snowmen; one was rebuking the other. The caption read, “Don’t be absurd! Of course, no one made us! We evolved from random snowflakes.”

Why Olympics are important today

Ever since I was in the fifth grade — when we finally got a television set in our home — I have enjoyed watching the Olympics.

Since our daughter was a competitive figure skater for many years (and I am still a member of the Figure Skating Club of Madison), I have especially looked forward to the Winter Olympics to watch figure skating. I also watch some of the other events.

I believe the Olympics continue to be important in our world today.
