Abortion is the leading cause of death worldwide in 2018

On January 16, 2019
Sr. Rosalia Bauer, FSPA

To the editor:

The Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children is observed on January 22. How appropriate, as on this day 46 years ago, our Supreme Court justices passed Roe v. Wade.

At a National Prayer Breakfast attended by President Bill and Hillary Clinton, Mother Teresa said: “What is taking place in America is a war against the child. If we accept that the mother can kill her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?”

Some people continue to ask, “When does human life begin?” The American College of Pediatricians responded in March of 2017: “Human biological research confirms that human life begins at conception. This statement focuses on the scientific evidence of when a human life begins.”

Unborn human babies are at high risk — not just because of heart, cancer, or chronic respiratory diseases, but because of abortion, the deliberate killing of unborn human babies alive in their mothers’ wombs. Headlines in some newspapers said that “Abortion was the leading cause of death in 2018.”

How can this be, in a world that is becoming increasingly more scientifically advanced; a world that has nearly eradicated diseases like polio, leprosy, etc?

According to Christianheadlines.com the news site and data site Worldometers reported that 42 million abortions took place in the world in 2018, making it the leading cause of death worldwide.

So America: what are you and I doing about this? Will the top news for the end of 2019 be repeated?

Sr. Rosalia Bauer, FSPA, La Crosse
