ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Diocese of Madison Catholic Herald won six awards in the annual Catholic Press Association competition announced June 21 in St. Petersburg.The awards include:
• Best News Writing on a Local or Regional Event to reporter Kevin Wondrash for an article on the annual March for Life in Chicago. Judges commented, “There have been many Marches for Life and many, many participants. Reporter Kevin Wondrash found success to making this march fresh and enjoyable by setting the scene and then letting the marchers do the talking. Madison parish issues invitation to ‘Called to Grace’ mission
MADISON — Good Shepherd Parish invites those interested in renewing their faith to attend its “Called to Grace” parish mission June 16 to 19.
Sunday and Tuesday will be at St. James Church, 1128 St. James Ct., and Monday and Wednesday evenings at St. Joseph Church, 1905 W. Beltline Hwy.
Fr. Matthew Bonk, a Redemptorist priest from Brooklyn, Minn., will preside over the mission. Each service will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by refreshments and fellowship at 8 p.m.

REEDSBURG — Sacred Heart Parish in Reedsburg, along with Friede & Associates, held a Prayer, Dedication, and Groundbreaking Ceremony on May 12 for the Our Lady of Refuge Adoration Chapel.
The event included a dedication prayer with several speakers saying a few words of congratulations to the parish prior to the ceremonial shoveling of the dirt.

Choir awards scholarships
MADISON — The Madison Diocesan Choir awarded five Youth Pastoral Musician Scholarship Awards (YPMSA), at the choir’s spring concert on May 17 in the chapel at Holy Name Heights in Madison.
Linda Galang, the choir’s scholarship committee chair, introduced two of the five winners who were able to attend the concert.
The scholarship initiative is for middle and high school students who are active in their parish music ministries. A successful applicant can receive $500 to attend an approved summer music clinic.
