Even as we are mourning the death of Bishop Robert C. Morlino, all in the Diocese of Madison must now turn toward the Lord and earnestly ask that he send us a successor who will lead us in the faith. Following are some suggestions that were sent in a memo to parishes:
1. Prayer cards with the Prayer for a New Bishop
The Diocesan Prayer for a New Bishop (above) is available as both an MS Word file and a PDF of a prayer card. Orders are being taken online (www.madisondiocese. org/worship) and by phone at 608-821-3080. For a nominal fee, you can order large amounts of professionally printed cards for use in your parish. You may print the prayer card on your own. It is our hope that this will not only be prayed at Masses (attached to the homily or intercessions or at the end of the Mass), but also at meetings and gatherings of parishioners as well as in people’s homes. Please also post it on websites, Facebook pages, etc.
2. Intercessions for a New Bishop
These or similar intercessions may be used at weekday and Sunday Masses. An intercession for a new Bishop should be used at each Sunday Mass.
3. Masses for a New Bishop
Please offer at least one Mass intention each month at a Sunday or weekday Mass for the new bishop using the Masses and Prayers for Various Needs and Occasions, For the Church No. 4: For the Election of a Pope or Bishop when allowed under liturgical law.
4. Masses for the Repose of the Soul of Bishop Robert C. Morlino
Please offer at least one Mass intention each month at a Sunday or weekday Mass for the repose of the soul of Bishop Morlino using the texts in Masses for the Dead Part IV, Various Prayers for the Dead 2A, for a Diocesan Bishop when allowed under liturgical law.
