What we believe
In the previous column, I reflected on the Nicene Creed, as we celebrate the 1,700th anniversary of its formulation this year.
Two of the principal doctrines professed in the Creed are the Most Blessed Trinity and the identity/nature of Jesus Christ, two beliefs which are absolutely unique to Christianity.
1,700 years of the Nicene Creed
As we observe this Jubilee Year and celebrate the recent election of Pope Leo XIV, the Church also marks the 1,700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea, from which came the Nicene Creed, the profession of faith we proclaim every Sunday at Mass.

Five years ago, the Diocese of Madison launched Go Make Disciples, our evangelizing initiative to live the mission of the Church. Two years ago, we launched Into the Deep, our strategic restructuring of our parishes to better utilize our resources in the service of that mission.

Get close to His Sacred Heart
This month of June, which is always dedicated to the Sacred Heart, (the solemnity falls on June 27 this year) also marks the 350th anniversary of the final apparition of the Sacred Heart to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in her French convent.
Welcoming the Holy Spirit
As we approach Pentecost and the conclusion of the Easter season, we rejoice in the sending of the Holy Spirit upon the Church and upon us. The Third Person of the Blessed Trinity anoints us with the very power and grace of God.
