We really trusted that Our Lady would simply take care of us. And she did, with a reassuring sign to boot. I will never doubt the intercession of Our Lady through the Rosary again.

have you found a way to bring the fullness of the “source and summit” more alive in your life? I’m trying, but I struggle. I struggle because I still fall short of my goal which, in part, is to experience overwhelming joy in the power of the Presence every time I receive Communion.

Here on Earth, mothers provide for the basic needs of our children as they grow. We hold out our hands for them as they test their ability to stand up and then walk forward. Sometimes they fall, but Mom is always there, offering her hand. Our Blessed Mother does the same for us interiorly as we step out with trust, shakily at first, into the lives Our Lord wills for us.

The old-age test revisited
It’s been almost two years since you and I took that old-age test together, and unless my memory is failing, we all passed with flying colors! We were definitely not old then, but perhaps it’s time to re-visit another version of that exam – just to make sure.

Growing older is inevitable for each of us, and facing our unavoidable mortality is just part of being human. Interestingly, the older we get the more childlike we become, in our physical and mental limitations, which can help us toward the goal of attaining humility in our spiritual lives.
