Freedom of choice should extend to unborn children

To the editor:

I am writing in regards to this Freedom of Choice Act. I think it’s rather confusing. It seems that this man and woman who are seeking an abortion have already spent their choice of freedom. Now does the act get extended to their little being that she is carrying?

Church needs to provide more education on life issues

To the editor:

Sincere thanks for your part in distributing vital FOCA information to your readers. I am concerned, however, that this information is too late. Shouldn’t this issue have been given a clear voice prior to recent weeks?

Soldiers in Iraq enhancing dignity of Iraqi people

To the editor:

There has been a lot written lately about Catholics participating in the Iraq War. I know some of the authors, in particular Fr. Jim Murphy whom I both love and admire.

Pro-lifers must stand up and let their voices be heard

To the editor:

It was so encouraging to see pro-lifers gather at the corner of Park and Regent Sts. to protest UW Health and Meriter’s plan to create a second-trimester abortion center.

Freedom of religion includes separation of atheism, state

To the editor:

Regarding freedom of religion and prayers at governmental occasions, with humility before God and asking forgiveness for our wrongs, we must calmly and accurately bear witness to the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which includes, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press . . .”

Catholics had facts, voted for pro-abortion politicians

To the editor:

Regarding the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) legislation: Being out of step with the values of Americans doesn’t seem to be reality. If that were true, “good Catholics” would not have voted for pro-abortion politicians at any level of government making them the majority at this time, nor would we have “good Catholic” politicians who are at the same time pro-abortion politicians openly thumbing their nose at God’s commandment, Thou Shall Not Kill. These same politicians will ignore the Silent Minority’s postcards and petitions because they CAN at this point in time.

Abortions could provide eggs for research

To the editor:

See www.randymelchert.com for videos from the January 31, 2009, pro-life rally in Madison. He also has a link to Mayo which describes the second trimester development. At 16-weeks girls have millions of eggs forming in the ovaries. At 22-weeks girls have uterus and ovaries in place — complete with a lifetime supply of eggs.

Protest cards are good, but take best action by voting

To the editor:

I applaud and support Bishop Morlino’s efforts to prevent President Obama’s promise to sign the proposed “Freedom of Choice Act” by providing protest cards.
