Corpus Christi Mass at Durward’s Glen

On May 21, 2015
Kevin Wondrash

BARABOO — The 102nd annual Corpus Christi Mass and procession at Durward’s Glen will take place on Sunday, June 7, at 11 a.m.

The Mass will be celebrated at the outdoor Holy Family altar by Fr. Pedro Escribano of the Society of Jesus Christ the Priest.

After Mass, the Eucharistic procession will begin from the hilltop and include Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, flower girls, candles, incense, local musicians, flags, a crucifix, and the Blessed Sacrament carried under a decorative canopy.

The first stop of the procession will be at the grotto of Mary, Mother of God. It was built using stones from the burned St. Raphael Cathedral in Madison and was dedicated on August 15, 2009.

From there the procession will wind its way to St. Anthony’s altar and decorative flower garden. It will then pass the Durward Spring fountain and pass over the crown bridge to the Guardian of the Glen statue and altar, and conclude with Benediction in the Immaculate Conception indoor chapel.

The Knights of Columbus will serve a picnic-style meal of brats, hot dogs, chips, and beverages. A free will offering will be taken.

Tours are available. Durward‘s Glen is located in the Baraboo Bluffs at W11876 McLeisch Rd. For more information, call 608-356-8113, check Facebook or go to www.durwardsglen.org
