BELOIT — Vibrant and enthusiastic music is offered by Joyful Noise, the Our Lady of the Assumption Parish (OLA) contemporary Christian music group.

For the Advent and Christmas season Joyful Noise has released a new CD, Hope for the World. It captures the essence of the group’s lively repertoire with musical selections featuring a variety of their gifts and talents.

Collection of group’s favorites

The title, Hope for the World, is based on an original composition, “Whole Wide World’” by group member Steve Sennett. The CD includes well-known seasonal music such as “Mary Did You Know” and “Emmanuel.” “It’s a collection of our favorite Christmas music,” said longtime Joyful Noise member Nancy Crivello.

She mentioned a few additional CD presentations. OLA director of music Randy Gracyalny and Nancy DiFelice sing “O Holy Night.” Joyful Noise member Kenn Kahle plays “Christmas Eve,” the guitar solo he wrote. Nine sixth graders from OLA School sing “Comfort My People.”

Joyful Noise members are delighted to share their music. They welcome orders from the public. Crivello emphasized that Hope for the World makes a wonderful gift for family or friends during this Advent and Christmas season.

Hope for the World and the group’s first CD, We All Shine, can be purchased for $15 each or two for $25, plus shipping and handling for those that must be mailed.

To purchase a CD, e-mail [email protected] or call Nancy Crivello, evenings at 608-365-1579.

Spread Word of God

Joyful Noise leads music at the OLA at the 5 p.m. Mass on the second Saturday of every month. The group of talented musicians also plays and sings for area and diocesan events and Masses.

Crivello, a classical pianist, emphasizes that the group’s goal is to enhance worship for the congregation. “We all actively participate because God and the Holy Spirit have moved us in a positive direction. We gather to sing and play beautiful music, and we are in the group to spread God’s Word to others through our music.”

Crivello, formerly music instructor at OLA School, eagerly shares her special gifts and is delighted when a parishioner reaches out to thank the group. “I’m impressed that many older people really like our lively music. They may say they’re touched by a song. A lot of older people say they love us.”

She added that group members have made new friendships with one another. “These, too, have enhanced our lives,” she said.

OLA Pastor Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl added his words of appreciation for Joyful Noise. “Joyful Noise has brought a welcomed style of music to our liturgies; their great spirit only adds to their individual and combined talents. We’re blessed at OLA to have so many in the parish with musical talents, even more blessed that they are willing to share their talents so generously.”

About Joyful Noise

Joyful Noise was organized in 2004 due to a special request from within OLA parish for this type of music ministry. At first it included group of students from OLA School as well as adults from the parish. Presently Crivello said the group has become a foundation of an adult group.

Joyful Noise members include the following: Steve Sennett, Mike Gilliland, Eric Nelson, Kenn Kahle, Christopher Kahle, Joe Sears, Kate Bares, Karen Stepanek, Diane Wilson, Jim Schneider, Doreen Houge, Barb Watts, and Nancy Crivello.

“I love music. Music has always been such a passion of mine,” said Crivello.

Noting that the musicians in Joyful Noise enjoy sharing their gifts, she added, “I think the Holy Spirit moved in a special way to put all of us together. We gel. It’s working!”
