PLOVER — The Wisconsin Chapter of the Catholic Library Association (WCLA) will hold its annual fall conference on Friday, Oct.18, in Plover.
All elementary, middle, and high school librarians, as well as those from universities, colleges, and public and parish libraries, are welcome. The conference will be held at the Best Western Hotel and Conference Center in Plover from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Jim Welander is a part-time technology director for Cooperative Educational Service Agency (CESA) #4 in West Salem. He also teaches many technology workshops at CESA #4’s Summer Tech Academy as well as other CESA offerings. He will speak from 1 to 2:30 p.m. about iPad tips, tricks, and applications that can be used in the library and the classroom.Merri Lindgren, a librarian at the Cooperative Children’s Book Center (CCBC) in the Department of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will present “Best books of 2013” from 9 to 10:15 a.m., and will discuss newly published books recommended for children and young adults by the CCBC.
Deb Gilkes, media director at Blessed Sacrament School in La Crosse, will offer a presentation of the use of e-books in the library.
There will be a breakout sessions for groups of attendees by specialty, offering the opportunity to discuss common practices and learn from each other.
Continental breakfast, lunch, door prizes, and time for networking and book shopping are included in the $35 registration fee. Non-members of WCLA pay $45.
