Natural Family Planning classes offered in diocese

On February 25, 2015
Kevin Wondrash

MADISON — The Couple to Couple League (CCL) will offer classes on the sympto-thermal method of Natural Family Planning (NFP) at several locations this winter and spring.

Each course is taught by a married couple who are certified NFP instructors. The main NFP course is offered in a three-part series.

Mobile fertility tracking

CCL now offers on-the-go mobile fertility tracking, CycleProGo, which allows couples to chart electronically, record fertility symptoms, and determine the fertile and infertile times of the cycle.

All those who register for a CCL course will receive a free 90-day trial of fertility tracking with CycleProGo.

Postpartum classes

Postpartum classes are scheduled and offered by appointment throughout the year. A postpartum class is designed to provide specific information on how to interpret fertility signs during the transitional stage between childbirth and the return of normal fertility cycles.

Couples interested in taking a postpartum class need to complete a CCL main NFP course or be concurrently enrolled in a main course or a CCL home study or virtual online course.

Premenopause classes

Premenopause classes are offered as needed by appointment. This class is designed to help NFP couples navigate during the time a woman’s body is adjusting hormonally to the natural ending of a woman’s fertile years.

Main NFP courses (attend all three sessions)

• Bloomington — Sundays, March 14, April 11, and May 9, 9 a.m., St. Mary Church, 535 Congress St., taught by Rita and Doug White.

• Janesville — Thursdays, March 19, April 16, and May 14, 7:30 p.m., at the home of the instructors, Elaine and Tom McDonald. (Available by appointment also.)

• Madison — Saturdays, March 28, April 25, and May 30, 10 a.m., Bishop O’Connor Center, 702 S. High Point Rd., taught by Erin and Jeff Heller. (Available by appointment also.)

• Monona — Saturdays, beginning March 7, 10 a.m., Immaculate Heart of Mary School, 4913 Schofield St., taught by Molly and Jesse Czech. Remaining two class dates to be determined at the first class.

Postpartum class (attend one session)

• Janesville — Friday, Feb. 27, or Thursday, April 20, 7:30 p.m., at home of the instructors, Elaine and Tom McDonald. (Available by appointment also.)

• Madison — Saturday, May 16, 10 a.m. at the Bishop O’Connor Center, 702 S. High Point Rd., taught by Erin and Jeff Heller. (Available by appointment also.)

Virtual online and home study courses are also available.

To hear couples share their story about NFP or for more information on CCL go to www.ccli.org or www.live-the-love.org and for questions about CCL NFP classes, contact Mary at 608-221-9593.

To register for classes go to www.madisondiocese.org/nfp or email the NFP coordinator at [email protected] or call 608-821-3134.

Classes will continue to be added as new couples become certified NFP instructors.
