SINSINAWA — Sr. Hermana Oppreicht died June 26, 2009, at the Dominican Motherhouse, Sinsinawa. The Mass of Resurrection was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa July 1, 2009, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Hermana was born April 25, 1912, in Lynxville, Wis. Sister Hermana made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican August 5, 1933, and her final profession August 5, 1936. She taught elementary school for 16 years and high school for 23 years. Sister Hermana ministered as a pastoral associate for 23 years, retiring in 1997. Her ministries took her to Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Hermana taught at St. Patrick, Madison, 1940-1943; Blessed Sacrament, Madison, 1943-1946; Edgewood Campus School, Madison, 1946-1950; Edgewood High School, Madison, 1956-1958; and St. Clara Academy, Sinsinawa, 1959-1960.
