Proposed Sauk City middle school postponed for 2009-10

On August 27, 2009May 15, 2024
--

SAUK CITY — St. Aloysius School in Sauk City was considering a proposal to expand to grades six, seven, and eight for the fall of 2009, but after a feasibility study conducted this year Bishop Robert C. Morlino has recommended that the grades not be added for the coming school year.

The proposal for the middle school would have added the three grades in a single-gender class format. St. Aloysius School had at one time offered eight grades.

After “careful study and prayerful consideration,” however, the bishop concluded that the middle school would not be added to St. Aloysius School for the 2009 to 2010 school year. “However, as the opportunity to do so remains before us, over the next several months, thorough preparations should be made to add grades six, seven, and eight for the 2010 to 2011 school year,” the bishop wrote in a letter dated August 21, sharing his conclusion about the feasibility of the middle school.

The opportunity for expansion at the school had arisen primarily due to the current availability of classroom space and the arrival in the Diocese of Madison of 13 consecrated women, 10 of whom are trained and experienced teachers, and two new priests of the Society of Jesus Christ the Priest.

For more information on the proposal for the middle school and the feasibility study, visit the St. Aloysius Parish, Sauk City, Web site at www.saint-aloysius.org Updates and information are also posted to the diocesan Catholic schools Web site at www.madisondiocese.org under the blue “Schools” tab in the menu bar near the top of the page.
