It seems as if our society has forgotten — or perhaps never known — that there is another season before Christmas: Advent.
Saint Cecilia Parish in Wisconsin Dells will celebrate the start of the Advent season with a three-day event, featuring its third-annual Tree Lighting Concert followed by an old-world holiday market, the Three Kings Christmas Market.

The word Advent comes from the Latin word adventus, which means “coming”. During Advent we wait patiently for the coming of Jesus.
According to the General Norms for the Liturgical Year and Calendar, Advent has a two-fold character. It is a season to prepare for Christmas when we remember Christ’s first coming to us.
