The following is a statement of Bishop Robert Morlino with regard to the U.S. Immigration debate, as of June 25, 2018:
1) I know of no one who, in his or her heart, favors separating children from parents, and the Church has consistently spoken out against every measure that would do so. Similar problematic immigration elements have been present in U.S. policy for at least the last four administrations, and the U.S. bishops have spoken clearly on the need for comprehensive immigration reform. Bishop presents money to Catholic Charities
MADISON — Bishop Robert C. Morlino of Madison recently presented three checks to Jackson Fonder, CEO and president of Catholic Charities Madison.
One check, totaling $185,000, was from the 2017 Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA). This money came from additional proceeds made available when the diocese reached its giving goal for the year.

I went to see A Quiet Place, John Krasinski’s new thriller, with absolutely no anticipation of finding theological or spiritual themes. I just wanted a fun evening at the movies. How wonderful when a film surprises you!
I don’t know if I can find the golden thread that draws all of these themes together into a coherent message, but I think one would have to be blind not to see a number of religious motifs in this absorbing film.Annual White Mass scheduled for March 18
MADISON — The Catholic Medical Guild of the Diocese of Madison will present the annual White Mass with Bishop Robert C. Morlino on Sunday, March 18, at St. Patrick Church, 404 E. Main St.
The White Mass honors physicians, nurses, and healthcare workers. The Mass will be at 11 a.m.
A brunch and speaker will follow the Mass. Vicki Braun, MS, CGP, will speak on “The Female Cycle as the Fifth Vital Sign — Fertility awareness based methods and their role in women’s health issues.”

MADISON — On Friday, Feb. 2, at 6 p.m., Bishop Robert C. Morlino will celebrate Candlemas with a Pontifical Mass at the Throne in the chapel of the Holy Name Heights in Madison (aka Bishop O’Connor Pastoral Center), 702 S. High Point Rd.
The music will be Gregorian Chant and polyphonic motets. There will be the traditional blessing of candles and a procession. The rites are in the Church’s ancient, traditional form of the Roman Rite. Blessed candles will be available.

Church invites all to encounter Jesus Christ
By now you’ve seen or heard a great deal about me and what I’m supposed to have done most recently. It’s been in the papers, online, and on TV and radio news. You’ve been told by your friends, and talked about it over coffee. To some of you, what you’ve heard simply confirms the judgements you’ve already made long ago. For others, what you’ve heard left you sad and scratching your heads.
In truth, I find myself in that latter group.
The observations and reactions that have been made simply do not account for the total context. And what has grown from there is a flurry of opportunity for people to jump to every sort of negative conclusion and to air those negative judgements freely and widely. All of this has occurred very much absent the reality of the situation.
Catholic and Lutheran bishops to hold service commemorating Reformation anniversary
MILWAUKEE — On Tuesday, Oct. 31, the Roman Catholic bishops of Wisconsin will join with the bishops of Wisconsin’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) at a service commemorating the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation. The joint service will be one of reconciliation and witness, focusing on 50 years of sustained and fruitful Lutheran-Catholic dialogue.
Archbishop Jerome Listecki of Milwaukee, Bishops Robert Morlino of Madison, David Ricken of Green Bay, William Callahan of La Crosse, and Auxiliary Bishops Jeffrey Haines, James Schuerman, and Emeritus Richard Sklba, all of Milwaukee, and the Very Reverend James Tobloski, representing Bishop James Powers of Superior, will lead the service.
Holy Family, La Valle, celebrates centennial
Prior to exclaiming, “Wow!” Bishop Robert C. Morlino of Madison said, “What a joy and a privilege and an honor it is for me to be able to be with you this morning to celebrate 100 years,” at the start of Mass on September 17 at Holy Family Church in La Valle.
