A special invitation to all people with disabilities, shut-ins, the elderly, and their caregivers

PORTAGE — St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Portage, will be celebrating a Mass in remembrance of Blessed Margaret of Costello for the cognitive and physically disabled and their parents, caregivers, and guardians.

The celebration will be on Saturday, April 27, at the 4 p.m. Mass. People of all faiths are invited and welcome. There will be a delicious dinner to follow in the school cafeteria.

Catholic Charities’ Healthy Aging Conference to be held September 9

MADISON — Catholic Charities will present the fifth annual Healthy Aging Conference on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Sheraton Inn, 706 John Nolen Dr., in Madison.

The conference features two keynote speakers and eight workshops devoted to helping seniors, their adult children, and caregivers become familiar with the scope of alternatives that address the mind, body, and spirit of seniors as they age.

JANESVILLE — Rock County Council on Aging will be offering “Powerful Tools for Caregivers®”, a nationally recognized education program to help family and friends caring for older adults and anyone who cares for someone with chronic health concerns.

“Taking Care of You — Powerful Tools for Caregivers” is designed to help family caregivers take care of themselves. This class teaches the caregiver necessary emotional tools to reduce guilt, anger, and depression; how to deal with difficult feelings; take care of yourself; help you relax; set goals; solve problems; and effective communication with family members and health service providers.
