Following an excellent first year of educational service in the Diocese of Madison, the Seat of Wisdom Diocesan Institute will kick off its second year beginning Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the Cathedral Parish of St. Raphael.

We’re all called to proclaim the Word
Every Catholic has a call to teach, proclaim the Word of God, and pass along the faith to future generations. We are reminded of that call as we celebrate Catechetical Sunday this weekend on Sunday, Sept. 20, in our parishes and homes.
This year focuses on the theme, “Catechesis and the Proclamation of the Word.” In many parishes, those who serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry. We thank all people who step forward to serve as catechists in our parishes, teaching everyone from pre-schoolers to adults.
New Program grew out of two former efforts
The Seat of Wisdom Diocesan Institute is a new program of Catechetical Certification and Adult Faith Formation in the Diocese of Madison.

First in a series
MADISON — This fall, the Diocese of Madison’s Office of Evangelization and Catechesis (OEC) is starting the new Seat of Wisdom Diocesan Institute (SOWDI), a program of catechetical certification and adult faith formation in the diocese.
The first course in the institute will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the Cathedral Parish of St. Raphael at St. Patrick Church in Madison.
To clarify and improve the effectiveness of diocesan catechetical efforts, the OEC hopes to unify the missions of what was previously referred to as the Diocesan Lay Institute and the current Formation of Religious Education Ministers by subsuming both into the “umbrella” of the SOWDI.
Confirmation proposal topic of regional gatherings
Regional gatherings of parish catechetical leaders in the Diocese of Madison will continue in May with a focus on the Sacrament of Confirmation.
