New developments at St. Ambrose Academy

MADISON — St. Ambrose Academy has recently announced two significant new initiatives that will position the school for future growth and success, including adding new members to its Board of Directors and kicking off a three-year plan to move into a new school building by September 7, 2021.

Since St. Ambrose Academy’s founding in 2003 as Madison’s first independent, classical, Catholic middle and high school, enrollment has grown tenfold. In its first 15 years, St. Ambrose has continually expanded its ability to deliver on its mission of providing Madison-area families with access to a classical education rooted in the Catholic faith.

Women invited to share their faith

HILLPOINT — Marie Lins, associate coordinator of the Madison Diocesan Office of Evangelization and Catechesis, will speak on “Sharing the Love of Our Faith” at the spring meeting of the Sauk Vicariate Council of Catholic Women (CCW) Saturday, May 5, at the Joyce Fichtel Farm, 17502 Pregal Dr., Hillpoint.

The meeting starts at 9 a.m. with registration and prayer, followed by business meeting, program, and lunch. It concludes with the Beatitude Rosary and prayers at 12:30.

Madison Catholic Woman’s Club plans Spring Celebration

MADISON — The Madison Catholic Woman’s Club (MCWC) will be celebrating another year of religious, charitable, and civic activities on Tuesday, May 8, at a 12 noon luncheon at Blackhawk Country Club, 3606 Blackhawk Dr.

Highlights of the Spring Celebration will include announcement and presentation of the Christian Achievement Award for 2018, acknowledgment of new club members, and donations to local charitable organizations of cash and in-kind goods totaling over $20,000.

West Dane Catholic women host talk on realities of human trafficking

CROSS PLAINS — “Respecting the Dignity of God’s Creation” is the theme for the spring conference of the West Dane Council of Catholic Women (CCW) Tuesday evening, April 24, at St. Francis Xavier Church in Cross Plains.

Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. with Mass at 5 celebrated by Fr. Tom Kelley, pastor, and Msgr. Duane Moellenberndt, Sun Prairie. Following Mass, there will be a business meeting with election of officers, light dinner, and program.

Annual White Mass scheduled for March 18

MADISON — The Catholic Medical Guild of the Diocese of Madison will present the annual White Mass with Bishop Robert C. Morlino on Sunday, March 18, at St. Patrick Church, 404 E. Main St.

The White Mass honors physicians, nurses, and healthcare workers. The Mass will be at 11 a.m.

A brunch and speaker will follow the Mass. Vicki Braun, MS, CGP, will speak on “The Female Cycle as the Fifth Vital Sign — Fertility awareness based methods and their role in women’s health issues.”

St. Patrick’s celebration in Watertown

WATERTOWN — The 2018 Watertown Catholic St. Patrick’s Day Celebration, hosted by St. Bernard Church, will take place on Saturday, March 17, from 4 to 7 p.m.

The event will celebrate the best in Irish food and entertainment, promising an evening of family fun. Choose a corned beef dinner, Reuben sandwich platter, or traditional bangers and mash (Irish sausages with mashed potatoes and gravy).

MADISON — The Madison Catholic Woman’s Club will hold its annual Priest and Religious Recognition Day on Tuesday, March 13, at Blessed Sacrament Church.

All women of the Diocese of Madison are invited to attend and encouraged to bring their pastor, pastoral associate, religious education director, and/or other staff who serve to enrich the spiritual life of the parish community.

Merger of Catholic health care systems is off to a good start

MADISON — The merger of Catholic health care systems in Wisconsin and northern Illinois is off to a good start. “We are getting to know one another,” said Damond Boatwright, regional president of operations for SSM Health in Wisconsin.

In an interview, Boatwright discussed the recent transfer of the sponsorship of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Agnes (CSA) health care ministries to SSM Health. Agnesian HealthCare, based in Fond du Lac, and Monroe Clinic, based in Monroe, are now part of SSM Health.

FORT ATKINSON — Catholic Schools Week is a time to celebrate Catholic education, including all those who support it and those who are learning from it.

St. Joseph School in Fort Atkinson recently took some time out of a busy school day to do just that.

Among a plethora of other activities, January 31 marked the day of an all-school assembly and talent show.
