A very happy Easter to you all!
On Tuesday of Holy Week, we celebrated our Diocesan Chrism Mass. This Mass, in which I bless and consecrate all of the Holy Oils that are used throughout the diocese for the year and distribute them to each of our parishes, is also the Mass wherein the priests renew the promises they made on the day of their ordination.

It is hard for me to believe that this coming Sunday is Palm Sunday, and yet, here we are!
I bring this up because I want to remind you that the most important liturgies of the Church, culminating in the great Easter Vigil, begin this coming Sunday. It is the most important time in the Church year, and I encourage you to be actively engaged in it.
Holy Week begins
We begin, of course, with Palm Sunday (or Passion Sunday), which is the official start of Holy Week. And Holy Week builds from there.
At Chrism Mass, Bishop blesses oils
It was an hour before Mass and the parking lot at St. Maria Goretti Church in Madison was already filling up.
It was a familiar sight that both spring and Holy Week have arrived.
