Queen of Martyrs Parish celebrates new pastor

“Thank you for your happiness” and “thank you for taking on this responsibility.”

Those were the words Bishop Donald J. Hying of Madison used to show his appreciation on the day he installed Fr. Bart Timmerman as pastor of Queen of Martyrs Parish in Beloit and Clinton.

Parish merger announced

The Diocese of Madison has announced the merger of a new parish — Queen of Martyrs — as of May 10.
This unites the church communities of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, St. Jude Parish, and St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, all in Beloit, and St. Stephen Parish in Clinton.

Farewell Mass for Fr. Bill Connell on September 17

CLINTON — Fr. Bill Connell, who was ordained to the priesthood on May 23, 1975, will be retiring because of health reasons from St. Stephen Parish, Clinton.

He will have a farewell Mass and reception on Sunday, Sept. 17. This will include the usual 9 a.m. Sunday Mass, followed by a light brunch and reception until 12 noon provided by his parish and large family. All are welcome.

Knights of Columbus host Wild Game Dinner in Beloit

BELOIT — Knights of Columbus Council 605, serving the Beloit/Clinton cluster parishes, will host its annual Wild Game Dinner on Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 939 Liberty Ave. in Beloit.

Dinner tickets are a $15 donation each and raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5 with a $200 first prize. Dinner and raffle tickets are available from any KC member or by calling Roy Nelson at 608-365-7919.

St. Stephen Parish hosts benefit for Connor Gracyalny

CLINTON — Food, kids’ games, a silent auction, and fun in a family-friendly atmosphere will be featured at the Connor Gracyalny Benefit to be held on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the St. Stephen Parish Family Center. Parishioners and the public are especially invited to the event.

Ten-year-old Connor, son of Michelle and John Gracyalny, St. Stephen parishioners, has been undergoing treatment for Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) for the past 10 months. He was diagnosed September 30, 2013, with the disease, which is a type of cancer of the white blood cells.

St. Stephen Parish celebrates 40th anniversary

CLINTON — St. Stephen Parish will be celebrating its 40th anniversary on Sunday, Aug. 26, with a 10:30 a.m. special Mass, parish potluck picnic, and an afternoon of fellowship.

Fr. Bill Connell, pastor, will concelebrate the Mass with St. Stephen’s founding pastor, Msgr. Gerard Healy, currently pastor of St. Ann Parish in Stoughton.

The Knights of Columbus Council 605 serving the communities of Beloit and Clinton and the Knights of Columbus Council 8021 serving the communities of South Beloit, Rockton, and Roscoe, Ill., announce that they have joined together to raise funds for an updated ultrasound machine for the Stateline Pregnancy Clinic in Beloit.
