One of my favorite things to cover for the Catholic Herald over the years have been Masses and events sponsored by the Apostolate for Persons with Disabilities (formerly the Apostolate to the Handicapped).
Grant helps Poynette parish build disabled accessible restroom
POYNETTE — Parishioners off all physical abilities now have access to a restroom at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Poynette.
The recent opening of the family restroom provides access and space for everyone, especially those who have to use a wheelchair to get around.

Each October we observe Respect Life Month in dioceses around the United States.
This year’s theme is “Be Not Afraid,” but of what, or whom, are we supposed to not be afraid?
Pondering this question, I recalled an experience I had while attending the Convocation of Catholic Leaders in Orlando last summer.
Catholic Charities Rock County Fashion Show brings smiles
The models were excited as they anticipated their walk down the runway with family and friends cheering them on.
But this wasn’t an ordinary fashion show. It was the seventh annual Rock County Fashion Show for the Disabled held at KANDU Industries on Friday evening, Sept. 11.
Making plans for care of disabled daughter

Q From the past columns I have read, my situation is different. I am the 79-year-old mother of a disabled daughter.
My health is pretty good, but I realize I will not be around forever. I have taken care of “Nancy” all my life, and she and I are very close.
I have not made any plans for her and wonder where to begin. She is my only child, and the thought of any other distant relatives caring for her is out of the question.
