We are made in God’s image

A beautiful, basic tenet of our faith, articulated in the creation account of Genesis, is that every human being is created in the image and likeness of God, the imago Dei.

The Scriptures narrate the words of God Himself: Let us make man in our image and likeness.

This conviction is the bedrock of the Church’s defense of human dignity, proclamation of inherent rights, and responsibilities of each person and a motivation for all of our concern for the poor, the young, the elderly, and the suffering.

Theme three: The meaning of Human Sexuality

To prepare for the upcoming World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia this September, the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis of the Diocese of Madison is providing a monthly series on a particular theme on marriage and family. Each theme is a chapter in the preparatory catechesis developed for the event entitled Love Is Our Mission: The Family Fully Alive, available in paperback from www.osvparish.com or for free online at www.worldmeeting2015.org

Four years ago I was given the first in a series of life changing gifts in the form of a diamond ring.

For weeks I would stare and delight in its beauty as light touched it and bounced back in various colors. In my excitement every friend, acquaintance, and stranger got to know my beloved as I feverishly relayed the story of how such a beautiful gift wound up on my finger.

Greater gifts followed as I became a wife and mother of two.

Divine Mercy Sunday to be celebrated on April 12

MADISON/SAUK CITY/ MONONA — St. John Paul II declared in the Great Jubilee year 2000 that throughout the Church, the Sunday after Easter will be known as Divine Mercy Sunday.

Divine Mercy message

The message of the Divine Mercy is that God is love itself poured out for us and this love is more powerful than any kind of evil in which individuals, humanity, or the world are entangled. All need Divine Mercy.

West Dane Vicariate meeting October 8

MARTINSVLLE — The West Dane Council of Catholic Women (CCW) will meet Tuesday, Oct. 8, at St. Martin Parish Center, 5959 St. Martin Cir., Cross Plains. Registration is from 8:30 to 9 a.m., followed by business meeting. The theme is “Made in God’s Image.”

Rona Neri-Bergmann and Genna Eaton from the Waunakee Neighborhood Connection (WNC) will speak at 10, focusing on “seeing God in everyone we meet and treating everyone with respect.”
