In the upcoming November 3 election there is only one thing that really matters and that is the “Right to Life” of all people.
Sure, I agree that “black lives matter,” but “all lives matter”.
If I may quote Bishop Joseph Strickland of Tyler, Texas, “however, the right to life position is, in one sense, not about an ‘issue’ at all. Nor are those who hold it ‘single issue voters.'”Dear Editor:
September 13 to 19 is National Assisted Living Week.
This annual observance was established by The National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) as a way to celebrate those who choose this type of living option and the caring, dedicated staff members who serve them; and to educate the general public about the importance and benefits of this type of long term care.

What a powerful, beautiful way to invite those who have lost unborn children in a variety of tragic manners to privately pray, grieve, and remember their children.
I would also like to salute Mary Mead who has spent several decades being a true ambassador of Christ’s love to these women and men. |

As I have considered this effort of evangelization, I return often to the story of Pentecost. It is a portion of our story that is perfect for this effort, and also the starting point for my entire ministry as a bishop.
In recent weeks, we have witnessed the vandalizing and toppling of statues around the country which depict Confederate leaders, Christopher Columbus, Saint Junipero Serra, Francis Scott Key, and anyone else deemed to be offensive to the vandals.

We may be tempted to consider the preceding exercise in recalling God’s deep, abiding, and personal love and our own response to that, a simple thing.

The following is a statement from Bishop Donald J. Hying of Madison regarding today’s (June 5) decision by officials to modify public health orders.
“We are pleased that the County and the City have ended the unequal 50-person cap on religious gatherings. As bishop, it is my duty to ensure that Sunday Mass be available as widely as possible to the Catholic faithful, while following best practices when it comes to public health. Indeed, in a time of deep division, it is more important than ever for the Church to provide solace and comfort to all, in the great tradition of American religious freedom. We look forward to working together with the County and City to continue the reopening process in a safe, cooperative, and responsible manner.”

Jesus Christ died for you. For you, the person receiving these words, God — the Eternal Creator — became a human being, entered into the messiness of humanity, lived, worked, loved, and prayed with those around him, and at the end of a young life, was unjustly condemned, cruelly tortured, and died as a criminal on a cross.
He did it for you.
Stop, even just for a second, and actually consider that.
You’ve likely heard it before — maybe even a hundred or a thousand times — but reconsider it; try to internalize it anew.
