‘The game is afoot’
On March 30, 2020, my husband and I, at the onset of the pandemic, dusted off the Scrabble board and played the first of many (697, to be exact) nightly Scrabble games. The competition continues. To date, I have triumphed in 545 of those games. The bad news, however, is that this ongoing tournament has created a monster, and the monster is — me.

Colorado votes in favor of late-term abortion
One of the most heartbreaking results that has come out of this most recent election comes to us out of Colorado. Some faithful pro-life groups were able to put the question of banning late-term (after 22 weeks in utero) abortion on the ballot, and a majority of voters in Colorado voted in favor of late-term abortion. Let that sink in for a minute.
Do you know what late-term abortion entails? It entails the abortionist injecting the baby’s heart (through the mother’s abdomen) with a chemical that will cause cardiac arrest in the baby. Then, the mother is sent away until her baby is dead. Next, labor is induced. This labor can last for more than one day. The mother will give birth to an intentionally dead baby. There are 100,000 late-term abortions in the United States every year. Let that sink in for another minute. Father, forgive them, they know not what they do!Letters to the editor (10-29-2020)

Examine conscience before voting
This is my first and will be my only letter to the community. The upcoming election will be very important, as all elections are. I’m hoping that there won’t be untruths, name-calling, violence, and disrespect during the campaign.
My main reason for the letter is to convey the importance of life. There seems to be a total disregard for this important subject: violence, rioting, looting, shootings and killings in neighborhoods across the country, wars, and abortions.Letters to the editor (10-15-2020)

During this challenging time, I have found it difficult to reconcile my faith and what I’ve heard from some in the Church.
This has caused me distress to the point where I’ve asked myself if I belong in the Church.

In a recent essay in the Wall Street Journal, Kimberly Cutter chronicled the death of her father by suicide. As he struggled with rapidly progressing prostate cancer, he lost more than 30 pounds, becoming gaunt and emaciated. Back pain and nausea forced him to spend much of his time in bed.
A few days before Christmas, he shared with Kimberly that he was thinking about shooting himself. Kimberly argued with him, stressing that she and her sisters couldn’t accept a violent ending: “If he shot himself, my father would die alone. Someone in our family would have to find him,” she wrote.
