‘Every Life Is Worth Living’ discussion series planned
MADISON — The Respect Life Committee of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish will host a two-part series, “Every Life is Worth Living.”
On Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, Fr. Pat Norris, OP, will present “Catholic Thought on End-of-Life Care.” Father Norris is priest chaplain and ethicist at St. Mary’s Hospital and the bishop’s coordinator for health care for the Diocese of Madison. He will explore Catholic ethical thought on assisted suicide/euthanasia and other end-of-life issues, including palliative care and hospice.
Compassionate Friends Candle Lighting December 13
MADISON — The Compassionate Friends (TCF) Worldwide Candle Lighting, which unites family and friends around the globe in lighting candles for one hour to honor the memories of the sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, and grandchildren who left too soon, will be held Sunday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m.
As candles are lit at 7 p.m. local time, hundreds of thousands of persons commemorate and honor the memory of all children who have died.

MADISON — La Parroquia de la Catedral tendrá su celebración anual de la Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe en la Santa Iglesia de Holy Redeemer, el 11 y 12 de diciembre.
Si bien María ha sido durante mucho tiempo la patrona de México, el Papa Santo Juan Pablo II la proclamó Patrona de las Américas en 1999. Juan Diego, a quien María se apareció en 1531, fue canonizado en 2002, convirtiéndose en el primer santo amerindio. Actualmente gente en toda América Latina — no sólo mexicanos — veneran a nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Eso incluye a muchos inmigrantes latinoamericanos en los Estados Unidos. “Para nuestra comunidad inmigrante, la Virgen de Guadalupe representa la espera, la esperanza y los motivos para seguir viviendo, y luchando en este mundo.” (Pbro. Donations will be matched in Catholic Multicultural Center Radiothon
MADISON — If the Catholic Multicultural Center (CMC) can raise $11,000 on December 11, generous donors have agreed to match donations dollar-for-dollar, doubling the impact of each donation.
The CMC can only do this with the help of donors as part of the fourth annual Radiothon fundraiser on La Movida Spanish radio, being held on Friday, Dec. 11, to benefit CMC programs such as the newly expanded English as a Second Language program.
Lecture focuses on music and beauty of Mass
“Of all the things that should be beautiful in the sacred liturgy, music is one of the most important ones,” said Abbot Marcel Rooney, OSB, to the attendees at the St. Thérèse Lecture November 20 at the Bishop O’Connor Catholic Center in Madison.
