Bonnie Engstrom to share story of son’s miraculous healing

PINE BLUFF — The Ladies of Divine Mercy will host Bonnie Engstrom at St. Mary of Pine Bluff Church on Friday, March 15, at 7 p.m.

Engstrom is a writer, baker, speaker, blogger, and homemaker. She is a cradle Catholic born and raised in Central Illinois. Bonnie and her husband have seven children.

In her presentation, “The Longest Hour — The Story of My Son, a Soon-To-Be Saint, and a Miracle,” she will share her son’s miraculous healing through the intercession of Venerable Fulton J. Sheen.

How marvelous is the miracle of life

I experienced a miracle! A few days ago, I held in my arms my first grandbaby — newly born Faith Annmarie.

Thank God she’s healthy and perfectly formed. And as I was looking at her, I reflected how wonderfully she is made: arms, hands, fingers, legs, feet, toes, eyes, mouth, nose, ears, as well as what I couldn’t see but was just as real — hundreds of different tissues, dozens of organs including the remarkable brain, and trillions of cells.

And then I reflected on her divinely infused eternal soul.

A ‘miracle baby’ is born

On March 3, 2013, I received a telephone call from a pretty distraught gentleman who was waiting in his car in the Planned Parenthood parking lot while his girlfriend had her abortion consult appointment.

Curtis kept referring to abortion as “intrinsic evil,” yet he felt that abortion was the only option to hide the fact that he had premarital sex.

Curtis had recently come to the Catholic faith and held a position on a board and was involved in prison ministry. He couldn’t imagine his peers knowing of his choice to engage in premarital sex.

Grand Mom by Audrey Mettel FixmerI was visiting the other day in the world’s most popular senior club, the doctor’s office, watching as she consulted her computer to check my X-rays from the week before.

I was just relishing the wonders of this technology that allows doctors to view any kind of health record or test results by a click of the mouse. Then I noticed her drumming her fingers in annoyance that she had to wait nearly a minute to get my record on the screen. I laughed.
