My name is Nickolas (Nick) Wingerter. I am married to Christina, and father to Patricia, Poirier, Fulton, and Felix.
We moved to Wisconsin this summer from Montana to join Bishop Donald J. Hying of Madison and the chancery staff as the associate director of the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis.
The seeds for a bright future were planted and nourished by one of this year’s Totus Tuus teams through faith-enriching games and activities at St. John the Baptist Church in Montello, part of St. John Henry Newman Pastorate.
After seven weeks of catechesis, silly skits, and shaving cream fights in the heat of June, July, and August, the Diocese of Madison’s Totus Tuus team completed another summer of sharing fun and faith with kids.
Incredible programs are happening right here in the Diocese of Madison to engage youth during the summer and set their hearts on fire for God! Read on to learn about two of these great opportunities that embody the mission to go make disciples among our youth.
Advent provides us with a beautiful and unique opportunity to deepen our faith and renew our lives for Christ. As we continue the mission to Go Make Disciples, we must take advantage of the call to grow in our life of discipleship. This year, let’s make a commitment to embrace the Christmas season and do Advent well.
SAUK CITY/LODI — “We will find ourselves and come alive when we make a sincere gift of ourselves to our neighbors.”
As stated in part of its mission manifesto, hundreds of teens in the Diocese of Madison came alive this summer as they participated in Love Begins Here.
MADISON — “Being Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event, a person, which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction.”
We begin by reflecting on these words by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, which define our mission as Christians as being a disciple to Christ and thus our relationship with him gives “direction” to our lives.
For the past seven summers, the middle and high schoolers of Love Begins Here (LBH), along with their leaders, have performed more than 45,000 hours of doing “small things with great love.”
VERONA — “The only way I was able to get to all these places and get to where I am today is because of one mother.”
When Mother Olga — who spoke the above words — talks about her life, people listen. When the gentle soul, only 4’10” but tall in love of Jesus and love for Mary, shared her story with hundreds of people, all eyes and ears were focused on her. She got everyone’s full attention.
On Thursday, May 7, St. Christopher Parish in Verona hosted the spring St. Thérèse Lecture called “From Baghdad to Boston: A Journey under the Shadow of Our Lady.”
MADISON — Catechetical leaders from across the Diocese of Madison recently met to discuss and explore the topic of same sex marriage.
This event at the Bishop O’Connor Center in Madison was co-sponsored by the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis and Madison Diocese Religious Education Organization (MDREO). It was exclusive to parish catechetical leaders, Catholic school principals, and priests in the Diocese of Madison.
