MADISON — Sold out. Filled to capacity. Past St. Ambrose Academy (SAA) musical productions like Mary Poppins, The Wizard of Oz, and The Sound of Music have drawn full-house crowds.
SAA student actors have built a reputation for excellent, entertaining musicals that frequently earn Jerry nominations and awards for their on-stage and behind-the-scenes talent.
MADISON — Producer Diane Marsland and Director Angela Hineline have earned reputations for making magic with St. Ambrose Academy’s musical productions by drawing greatness out of their student actors — nearly 40 percent of the entire student body — through a strong work ethic and an infectious enthusiasm.
Packed house crowds have roared with laughter and wiped away wistful tears, entirely delighted.
However, this year’s Singin’ in the Rain centers on 1920’s Hollywood stars Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont as silent films give way to “talkies.”
Essential to the musical are Hollywood sets for the footage of a silent film, a “talkie” flop, and a musical rewrite.
If we think the year 2012 has brought us unusual weather conditions, we are correct. In fact, reports indicate that the United States experienced its warmest and most extreme weather on record through April, and those conditions seem to be continuing.
The Rural Life Office of the Diocese of Madison began receiving field condition updates from our Diocesan Rural Life Network members throughout the month of May and early June, and the reports were quite startling.
