God knows what time will tell

I know you’re all avid cover-to-cover readers of the Catholic Herald, so you know what happened on June 24 — the never-thought-we’d-ever-see-this U.S. Supreme Court overturning of Roe v. Wade and other related cases thus ruling that there is no right to an abortion in the U.S. Constitution.

ROE V. WADE OVERTURNED

It was a day and a decision many people hoped, worked, and prayed for, but they didn’t know when they’d see it.

Remain vigilant about state abortion laws

The issue of abortion has been in the news this year, as some states are attempting to expand abortion rights and other states are attempting to restrict them.

Wisconsin citizens might wonder where our state stands on the issue of abortion.

Weather doesn’t stop those marching for life in Madison

In both years that a march for life has returned to Madison, providing a witness to an end to abortion and respect for life at all stages, weather has been part of the story, but certainly not the full story.

Abortion is the leading cause of death worldwide in 2018

To the editor:

The Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children is observed on January 22. How appropriate, as on this day 46 years ago, our Supreme Court justices passed Roe v. Wade.

At a National Prayer Breakfast attended by President Bill and Hillary Clinton, Mother Teresa said: “What is taking place in America is a war against the child. If we accept that the mother can kill her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?”

March for Life returns to Madison

Rain or shine, life is precious and a gift from God.

More than 500 people were probably reflecting on that as they marched from St. Patrick Church in Madison to the State Capitol on January 22 — the 45th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade U.S. Supreme Court decision to legalize abortion at all stages of pregnancy in all 50 states.

Be a part of the pro-life cause to end abortion

In his visit to the United States, Pope Francis especially praised two Catholics. They were Thomas Merton and Dorothy Day.

In 1925, Dorothy Day became pregnant. Because of a previous abortion, her pregnancy seemed a miracle. Now she had to make the toughest decision she ever made. If she gave birth, Forster Batterham, the child’s father, would leave her. He would stay with her if she aborted their baby.

Keep working to give life a chance

One of the first events I covered for the Catholic Herald was a pro-life rally held at the state Capitol on January 22, 1974.

It was held one year after the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion.

I went back and read that article, which noted that many people attending the rally wore buttons which said, “Give Life a Chance.”

Waiting for Jesus, waiting for justice: March for Life, Chicago, January 14, 2018

Why would you take a day to learn about life issues and stand in Chicago’s Federal Plaza listening to speakers like Pat McCaskey, co-owner of the Chicago Bears? What can he tell you about valuing life? Do you feel you have heard the pro-life message and not much more can be said?
