Bible study offered at Blessed Sacrament Parish

MADISON — Blessed Sacrament Parish will be offering a five-session Bible study, No Greater Love: A Biblical Walk Through Christ’s Passion, from Ascension Press this Lent. Filmed in the Holy Land, the study features Dr. Edward Sri, Fr. Mike Schmitz, Jeff Cavins, Teresa Tomeo, Jennifer Fulwiler, Fr. Josh Johnson, and Curtis Martin. Learn how every word, every action in the Passion narratives is written by the Gospel writers to make a specific point.

The sessions will be held on five Mondays: March 2, 16, 23, 30, and April 6 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. or 7 to 8:30 p.m. Pick your time!

Bishop Hying to speak at dinner

MADISON — The 2020 St. Thomas Aquinas Dinner and Lecture is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 23, at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Madison.

Bishop Donald J. Hying will be the program speaker. He will focus on St. Catherine of Siena, her work with the Church, and her example of discipleship.

The event marks the feast of St. Thomas Aquinas and is part of the parish’s annual four-part series to honor Dominican saints on their feast days.

Blessed Sacrament School raises money to feed hungry

MADISON — Brothers and sisters, parents and children, Big Buddies and Little Buddies — they all raised money for the hungry at Madison’s Blessed Sacrament School recently.

Students marched, jogged, and flat-out ran to raise money for various charitable causes related to hunger.

Annual Hunger March

Last year, the annual Hunger March raised more than $12,000 that was distributed to local, regional, and international organizations.

On Sunday, May 5, students from Watertown Catholic, Blessed Sacrament School in Madison, and St. Jerome School in Columbus boarded a bus bound for a five-day trip to Gettysburg, Pa., and Washington, D.C.

Blessed Sacrament School opening Montessori Children’s House

MADISON — Blessed Sacrament School (BSS) in Madison is opening a Montessori Children’s House.

A “children’s house” is a classroom serving children ages three to six. The BSS Children’s House will operate alongside the single-age 3K and 4K classrooms already offered at the school.

Dominican Rite Mass at Blessed Sacrament on July 29

MADISON — On Sunday, July 29, at 3 p.m., massgoers at Blessed Sacrament Church in Madison will not only fulfill their Sunday obligation to attend Mass, they will also experience some of the rich history and liturgical tradition of the parish and the Dominican Order.

The Mass will be a Traditional Latin Mass in what is called the “Dominican Rite”.

It will be celebrated by Fr. James Dominic Rooney, OP, who is in residence at the parish this summer while working on his doctorate from Saint Louis University.
