Arlene McMorran celebrates 25 years as principal
Among accolades honoring Arlene McMorran for serving 25 years as Our Lady of the Assumption (OLA) School principal is the Outstanding Catholic Educator Award in the Diocese of Madison. The honorary plaque was recently presented to McMorran by Madison Diocesan Superintendent of Schools Michael Lancaster.
Parish cooks up faith and family
MADISON — Erika Frederick never guessed the path to family and faith would be paved with peanut butter and marshmallows.
But when she capped her work on the Our Lady Queen of Peace cookbook with a cooking class for her kids and some of their friends, she found the connection. As the children dug in to mix and form “Crispy Cereal Roll-ups,” she saw them learning lessons of working as a team, sharing values, and building memories.
Princeton Catholic school pays tribute with a Night in New Orleans
PRINCETON — What does a Catholic school in the small town of Princeton, Wis., have in common with the large southern city of New Orleans, La.?
St. John the Baptist School in Princeton believes it shares with New Orleans “a great love for our way of life and a desire to preserve it for future generations,” says St. John School parent Mary Soda.
“St. John is a nurturing environment, based on Catholic values, respect for life, and serving others. We have small class sizes, high curriculum standards, and more spirit than you can pack into a Mardi Gras Parade,” she said.
Baraboo school marks 100 years of Catholic education
BARABOO — Over 1,200 invitations were sent to past graduates, staff, and faculty for a centennial celebration and reunion that will take place at St. Joseph School on Saturday, Oct. 3.
The festivities will begin with Mass at 4 p.m. celebrated by Fr. Larry Bakke. Following Mass, all are invited to the school for supper, an open house, and entertainment. Alumni can take time to tour the school, laugh over memorabilia, and enjoy connecting with past acquaintances.

On Saturday, March 14, 2009, Steve Bolser, long-time principal at Our Lady Queen of Peace School in Madison, died after a difficult battle with brain cancer.
Parish pitches in to help devoted principal
There aren’t many pastors who would willingly let someone throw a cream pie in his face.
But Msgr. Ken Fiedler did just that — for a price. At the recent Bolserpalooza fund-raising event for Steve Bolser, the long-time principal at Our Lady Queen of Peace School, Monsignor Fiedler agreed to make himself a target in the pie-throwing contest for $1,000.
