Merger of Catholic health care systems is off to a good start

MADISON — The merger of Catholic health care systems in Wisconsin and northern Illinois is off to a good start. “We are getting to know one another,” said Damond Boatwright, regional president of operations for SSM Health in Wisconsin.

In an interview, Boatwright discussed the recent transfer of the sponsorship of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Agnes (CSA) health care ministries to SSM Health. Agnesian HealthCare, based in Fond du Lac, and Monroe Clinic, based in Monroe, are now part of SSM Health.

Bishop blesses care center expansion

MADISON — Bishop Robert C. Morlino of Madison was on hand as SSM Health St. Mary’s Care Center in Madison celebrated its expanded care opportunities for its long-term residents and the greater community.

The bishop told staff members at an April 7 dedication and blessing ceremony that he is “pleased with all the healing and all of the love that are communicated in such a way that patients are healed outwardly and inwardly by the wonderful care that they receive” at the care center.

SSM Health gives major gift to seminarian campaign

MADISON — SSM Health has pledged a major gift of $250,000 to the Diocese of Madison’s Priests for Our Future: The Church Is Alive!” campaign to educate seminarians.

Damond Boatwright made the gift on behalf of SSM Health as one of his first acts as the new regional president/CEO of Hospital Operations in Wisconsin. SSM Health is the parent company of St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo, and St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital.
