Caring for both babies and mothers

Some people criticize the pro-life movement for caring too much about unborn babies and not enough about their mothers. In my experience, their criticism is unfounded. Pro-lifers DO care about both babies and their mothers.

There really should not have to be a choice between a woman and her child. We as a society should be concerned about the life of both. Yet we realize that there are women facing crisis pregnancies. They are confused, alone, afraid.

Civil Rights and Pro-Life Movements linked

It may not be a coincidence that two significant dates in history occurred in our country within a few days of each other in January, albeit in different years.

Protect pain-capable unborn children

Our society today seems to be obsessed with controlling pain. Most people experiencing pain of any kind run for the nearest bottle of pain-relieving pills to stop their discomfort.

There are also people who protest the supposed pain felt by animals in scientific research (there is disagreement over how much pain animals actually feel during experiments). And there are those who don’t like farm animals to be raised in environments which cause them pain and distress.

Unborn babies’ pain

But where is the outcry about the pain experienced by unborn babies during an abortion procedure? We don’t hear much about their pain.

Yet, there is growing medical evidence that unborn children do feel pain at 20 weeks or more of gestation. It’s not surprising that a child dismembered in the womb would feel pain.

Thanks to those who helped save lives

To the editor:

Another year: Yes, some lives were saved, yes because of prayer, and yes because of ultrasounds seen by mothers before they chose abortions.

Thanks to the Knights of Columbus and all people who donate and pray and vote for people who are pro-life, so that our tax money does not pay for abortions and that our tax money does not pay to fund organizations that perform abortions.

Scripture inspires us to save unborn babies

To the editor:

“Thou shalt not kill.”

“What you have done to the least of my brothers you have done unto me.”

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.”

“Let the children come to me and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”

So ask not what we can do just to save animals, but what can we do to save our own offspring, babies.

Compare government view of unborn babies to slavery

To the editor:

According to the contents of Roe vs. Wade, all unborn babies are not human, not persons. They are eligible for execution. They are inhuman like animals.

Before President Lincoln declared the Emancipation Proclamation, the U.S. government regarded all African Americans as not humans, not persons. They were like animals and therefore eligible for slavery.

Let’s form our own ‘humane society’ to protect babies

Editorial logo

When we think of respecting all human life, we usually start with pre-born life in the womb. Naturally that should be the beginning of our focus, since that’s where all human beings begin their existence.

Just ask expectant parents these days. They often talk about their unborn baby by name (for example, our son and his wife have chosen a name for their second daughter, who is due in December). Parents also see ultrasounds of their children in the womb and it’s obvious to them — as it should be to everybody — that this is a baby. Birth is just one stage in the development of that new little person.
