WHITEWATER — Warhawk Catholic, the campus ministry for Catholic students at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, is pleased to announce the winner of its Distinguished Alumni Award is Msgr. James Bartylla.
He is being recognized as part of an extended celebration of the 50th anniversary of Warhawk Catholic.
Many UW-Whitewater graduates are Catholic, one notable alum being Monsignor Bartylla ‘83, the vicar general of the Diocese of Madison.Sr. Jean Murray, OP, died February 14, 2019, at the Dominican motherhouse, Sinsinawa. Her religious name was Sister Meredith.

After the 13 Reasons Why debut that dramatizes the reasons behind one teen girl’s suicide, there has been a significant amount of discussion regarding teenage suicide and preventing such actions.
Some authors have debated whether or not the Netflix series will harm or help adolescents when navigating both their own and their peers’ feelings regarding this important topic.
Here, however, I wish to discuss ways that you can identify whether or not your teen (or an adolescent you know) is at risk for taking their life, and then what you can do to help.

Every year many of us find ourselves in your shoes.
From losing weight, to reading more, to cutting back on fast food, we all make plans that can be both great and unattainable at the same time.
In the first week of August, Pope Francis will meet hundreds of thousands of young people, including nearly 140 from Madison, in Krakow, Poland, to teach the young about the mercy of Christ in this Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy.
This year’s World Youth Day theme is: “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy” (Mt 5:7).
The youth of Madison are travelling in primarily two groups: one from St. Paul University Catholic Center in Madison, led by Fr. Eric Nielsen, and the other led by Fr. Brian Dulli.
It was a night to get together, celebrate, and look ahead to blessings to come.
The annual St. Augustine University Parish Newman Banquet took place on March 12.

From our first encounters with St. Paul’s University Catholic Center as uncertain students in the early 1980s, through our wedding and children’s baptisms, and many Eucharistic liturgies, we never felt less than welcome in that “dark, narrow, and cramped” physical building.
In a church typically full of college students, it’s a blessing to hear “grandma used to sit way up there,” as a woman reminisced to her granddaughter about her days at St. Paul University Catholic Center.

MADISON — Leah Darrow, former America’s Next Top Model contestant, will speak to University of Wisconsin-Madison’s students Thursday, Nov. 12, at 7:15 p.m. in the Humanities Building, Room 3650. Badger Catholic invites all students and their guests to attend the speaker event, “College Through a Different Lens.”
Students will have the opportunity to learn more about Darrow’s personal experience in the modeling industry. She will share personal failures and wins in life as she stumbled out of the pop culture industry and into a faith-driven life.
