MADISON — Even as St. Paul University Catholic Center has been a fixture of the Madison-area Catholic community for over 100 years, there’s always something new being added to offer the life of the faith and the Catholic presence to students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

You’re invited to get a taste of the vitality of this hopeful generation of young people along with the incredible community of supporters on Friday, May 8, at this year’s Spring Wine Fest.

St. Paul’s annual gala event benefits the important outreach and Catholic formation of thousands of young people each year and is the perfect night on the town.

St. Paul’s impact grows

As the Spring Wine Fest has grown each year, so also has the outreach and impact of St. Paul’s grown.

In the midst of an exciting building campaign that will dramatically improve the facilities and capability of this mission, St. Paul’s continues to be a leader in the direction of Catholic campus ministry, supporting students and encouraging their leadership.

New programs, like the eight-week Spiritual Direction Program offered once per semester and the ongoing comprehensive Missionary Discipleship Program St. Paul’s launched this year, are a sign of the growth and continued need young people have for authentic community and Catholic formation.

On a campus with approximately 10,000 baptized Catholics, St. Paul’s is there to meet that need and form today’s Catholic leaders.

Inspired by Pope Francis’ repeated encouragements for us all to be “missionary disciples,” St. Paul’s named its new comprehensive leadership program the Missionary Discipleship Program.

The anchors of this program, that students are in discipleship with another trained student or staff, are a member of a small group, receive catechesis, and have a regular life of prayer, are foundations that the staff have seen as essential in aiding students’ growth and ability to lead others in the faith.

With the continued success of small group Bible studies, retreats, and a strong emphasis on prayer and receiving the sacraments, there is an abundance of opportunity for students to grow in faith as they navigate college life and adulthood as leaders in society.

Event details

The Spring Wine Fest on May 8 will kick off with a fun wine and beer tasting — as you enjoy the company of other guests, sample some wines sourced internationally and beers from local Karben4 Brewing, using your tasting card to identify the characteristics of your favorites.

Open seating during dinner service continues the social and energetic atmosphere.

A brief program featuring the testimony of one of the many current students impacted by this mission is the capstone of this joyful evening.

Together with many sponsors, including 2015 Diamond Sponsor Diocese of Madison and 2015 Platinum Sponsors Backflip Films, CG Schmidt, Endres Manufacturing, Joe Pometto of Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial, Relevant Radio, and Town Bank, the Spring Wine Fest has grown to be a highly memorable evening.

We look forward to greeting you and many Catholics from across the area to celebrate and support this impactful and growing mission at the Spring Wine Fest on Friday, May 8.
