Obama has liberal record

On October 16, 2008
Pat Hawthorne, Janesville

To the editor:

Barack Obama has one of the most liberal voting records in the U.S. Senate. He rejects free market vision of government. His first federal Senate bill was in August 2007 about Pell grants and he cast 130 “present” votes while in the Illinos Senate. Obama said he reveres the American flag: “I don’t refuse to wear flag pins” but “fact check” said he refused to wear a flag pin in 2007 and that he voted for a non-binding tax increase on $42K income.

Obama will choose Supreme Court justices that will affect our courts and laws for 30+ years. He promised to choose liberal pro-abortion justices. Obama voted “no” on notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state abortions and he voted against banning partial birth abortions. He could not find it in his heart to vote to protect children that survive an abortion. He led the opposition to a bill to protect the children that survived abortions, even after a nurse testified about holding an aborted baby until it died in a Chicago hospital because the baby was not given life-saving treatment. An Obama presidency would continue the war on the unborn (3,000+ per day). He has a 100 percent pro-abortion voting record.
