Through his priesthood, Bishop Wirz touched many

On December 23, 2010
Mary Therese Gallagher

To the editor:

Our retired auxiliary bishop of Madison, George O. Wirz, has passed into eternity.

Now, through the power of the Holy Spirit, he can intercede for us, the Church of Madison, as we strive to be Church in our daily lives. What an on-going gift from God, to us, the people of God, in the Diocese of Madison.

Bishop Wirz was full of joy as a priest of God. Through his priesthood he served and touched so many people.

He was, also, one with us in the struggles we all have trying to understand how to be Church in this world of now.

The bishop followed the Master well. Most of all he loved us well. Let us pray that we will learn to love well, as the bishop did.

Mary Therese Gallagher of the Church of Madison
