Sister Victoire Beausoleil, OP, dies

SINSINAWA — Sister Victoire Beausoleil, OP, died June 28, 2013 at St. Dominic Villa. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa July 2, 2013, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.

Sister Victoire made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican March 8, 1935, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1938. She taught for 43 years and served as support staff at various hospitals and convents for 14 years. Sister Victoire served in Illinois, California, Nebraska, South Dakota, Washington, Montana, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Victoire served as support staff at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, 1988-1992.

Sister Victoire was born Oct. 23, 1916, in Anaconda, Mont., the daughter of George and Anna Marie (Callahan) Beausoleil. Her parents; a sister, Sister Marie Jordan Beausoleil, OP; and a brother, Paul Beausoleil, preceded her in death. She is survived by a sister, Evelyn Carroll; nieces; nephews; and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 78 years.
