Time to de-fund Planned Parenthood in Wisconsin

On December 3, 2014
Leslie Johnson

To the editor:

The Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism recently published an excellent article about the inspector general for the Wisconsin Department of Health Services conducting a much-needed audit of the multi-million dollar family planning industry in our state.

The recent article highlighted that clinics “overbilled Medicaid by $3.5 million.”

According to information obtained from an FOIA request with the Wisconsin Department of Health and Human Services, Planned Parenthood-Wisconsin received $51,709,318.21 (approximately $52 million) from taxpayers between 2011 and 2013.

Like the majority of hard-working taxpayers, I resent my tax dollars subsidizing an industry that thrives on killing babies.

It’s time for pro-life advocates across Wisconsin to contact Governor Scott Walker and insist he halt all funding to Planned Parenthood.

Governor Walker can be contacted at 115 East Capitol, Madison, WI 53702. His phone number is 608-266-1212 and his email address is govgen [email protected]

As the governor puts together the 2015 state budget, we pro-life Christians need to be heard loud and clear that our tax dollars should not be funding anti-life/anti-family organizations.

Stopping taxpayer dollars for Planned Parenthood needs to be priority #one during the upcoming legislative session that gets underway in January — the month that Roe v. Wade turns 42 years old.
