Ladies of Divine Mercy Evening of Reflection

CROSS PLAINS — All women are invited to a Ladies of Divine Mercy Evening of Reflection at St. Mary of Pine Bluff Church, 3673 CTH P, Cross Plains, on Friday, March 18.

The evening begins with the Angelus and sung Vespers at 6 p.m., followed by Eucharistic Adoration. Around 7 p.m., Fr. Scott Jablonski will give a spiritual reflection. The evening concludes with the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and Benediction.

Good Friday Walk for Justice and Mercy to be held in Madison

MADISON — What do walking for justice and mercy have to do with the three foci of Lent: fasting, prayer, and charity? Everything!

During the Church’s Jubilee Year of Mercy and the coming Good Friday time of meditating on the suffering and death of Jesus, Madisonians are invited to walk together to 10 stations in downtown Madison that will call to mind the need for justice and mercy in the world.

On Friday, March 25, all will gather at 4:30 p.m. at Cathedral Place, near the corner of West Washington Ave. and S. Henry St., to commence a one-hour, one-mile loop walk to 10 locations, including the Dane County Jail and the State Capitol.

St. Dennis Parish hosts grief support series

MADISON — St. Dennis Parish will host a four week “Moving Through Grief” series on Wednesday evenings, April 6, 13, 20, and 27 at the church, 505 Dempsey Rd. A group reunion will be held on Wednesday, May 11.

Sessions facilitated by the St. Dennis grief ministry team include presentations, prayer, small group discussion, handouts, and refreshments.

The beauty of striving

On a recent trip to Florida, I went kayaking in a nature preserve. I started in the Gulf of Mexico and followed the shoreline into a creek that wove and curved through a forest of banyan trees.

Banyan trees are so mysterious. Their roots rise up out of the ground and intertwine to make the trunk and roots shoot out of the branches and reach toward the ground­­ — actually, I cannot tell exactly where the roots are originating from as they flow together in a beautiful and tangled mess.

Public Square Rosary Crusade to be held in Green Lake

GREEN LAKE — The 2016 Traditional Marriage Public Square Rosary Crusade will be held on Saturday, March 19, in downtown Green Lake. Prayer will begin at 12 noon at Deacon Mills Park, corner of Mill and South Sts.

In The Secret of the Rosary, St. Louis de Montfort said, “Public prayer is more powerful than private prayer to appease the anger of God and call down His mercy, and Holy Mother Church, guided by the Holy Ghost, has always advocated public prayer in times of public tragedy and suffering.”
