April 4 election important to kids

On March 30, 2017
S.R. Quinones

To the editor:

My husband and I  have been blessed to be able to homeschool our four children and also to send them to Catholic schools for their upper grades. We have tried to  provide them with a morally and spiritually safe place where they would grow up to be compassionate and confident individuals ready to serve with their talents when they graduate.

When I look at the dismal graduation rates and competencies of students that have no choice but to attend Wisconsin’s public schools, I am sad for those children — they deserve better.

The upcoming election for Superintendent of Public Instruction for Wisconsin, on April 4, is an opportunity to replace the leadership that has been responsible for the public schools for the past 16 years.

We can’t expect our country to have a bright future if we don’t change the leadership of DPI and tackle the reality of the progressive movement controlling our nation’s schools.

S.R. Quinones, Madison
