New era in teaching on personal atonement

On October 18, 2018
Patrick Carey

To the editor:

Your recent headline, “McCarrick case: ‘Mistakes’ may have been made” presages a new era in the Church’s teaching of personal atonement. Inspired by our Vatican officials, the next time I’m in the confessional, I’ll follow their example and begin: “Bless me Father, for mistakes may have been made . . .”

Patrick Carey, Mount Vernon
