Annual Catholic Appeal: Your gift in action — Hispanic Ministry

The mission of the Office of Hispanic Ministry is to deeply and more faithfully integrate the Hispanic community of the diocese into the life of the Church within the different diocesan and pastoral ministerial areas of vocations, liturgy and sacraments, evangelization, catechesis, family life, Catholic education, and social justice, among others.

We desire the Hispanic community to have a personal encounter with Jesus Christ, a lived experience within their own community and within the wider community of the parish.

Bringing unity

By providing guidance, support, resources, and attention to the Hispanic community and the pastors who attend to the needs of this particular community, we hope to bring unity among the different parishes with Hispanic Ministry, creating bridges between communities.

It is our goal to revive the fire of their faith and foster their God-given talents so they can feel and be empowered to serve courageously within the life of the Church.

We hope for clearer communications between the diocese and the Hispanic community as we provide opportunities for conversation, networking, and relationship building in prayerful and joyful environments.

With close to 45,000 Hispanics living within the boundaries of the diocese, there are many people to help serve and evangelize.

Within the first year of the office’s existence, a Hispanic advisory committee has been formed, Bishop Donald J. Hying of Madison is planning three parish missions in Spanish, and the office is leading a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse.

Many new resources have also become available in Spanish on the diocesan website, via email, in parishes, and through this newspaper, hoping to ensure strong communication in the Hispanic community.

In addition, Hispanic leaders are working with the Office of Hispanic Ministry to incorporate Go Make Disciples in Hispanic communities and work is being done to offer more marriage preparation and catechetical formation in Spanish.

Your gift helps

Your gift to the Annual Catholic Appeal will help the Office of Hispanic Ministry continue to grow through the support of the formation of leaders, the creation of new efforts to serve Hispanic families, and the implementation of new initiatives.

If you have not already done so, consider supporting Hispanic Ministry and all the ministries funded through the ACA by making a gift.
