Annual Catholic Appeal – your gifts in action

On October 13, 2021October 12, 2021
by Kristen Beckett, For the Catholic Herald

MADISON — When you make a gift to the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA), you are supporting ministries throughout the entire diocese.

One of those is the Catholic Multicultural Center (CMC) in Madison whose mission is to help our brothers and sisters in need by serving the whole person.

They accomplish this by meeting immediate needs, providing educational services, and offering spiritual and cultural activities to recognize and respect the dignity of each person.

The CMC strives to provide an empowering social ministry to meet the needs of the whole person while fostering multicultural unity and cultivating collaboration among the local Catholic Church, other faith-based organizations, and community entities.

Fulfilling the mission

In supporting the ACA, you are helping the CMC to fulfill this mission and serving many of our brothers and sisters throughout our diocese.

Although there have been some changes to the programing that the CMC is able to offer because of the pandemic, many are still offered while taking the necessary precautions to keep the community safe.

Below are just a few of the services that are offered through the CMC and supported, in part, by your gift to the ACA:

• Food pantry
• Daily free meals
• Personal essentials pantry
• English as a Second Language (ESL) classes
• Employment search assistance
• Immigration legal services
• Food service job training
• Youth activities

Your support needed

In order to continue to offer support for these services and to those in need, the ACA will need your help and prayers, especially as more and more programs will be offered through the CMC when deemed safe.

We again want to take a moment to thank all of those who have made a gift to the ACA, your gift has touched the lives of many.

If you have not had the opportunity to make a gift, consider doing so by visiting madisondiocese.org/acagive

Kristen Beckett is the director of annual appeals for the Office of Stewardship and Development in the Diocese of Madison.
