Apostolate holds annual summer event

On July 23, 2009May 1, 2024

WISCONSIN DELLS — “We of the Apostolate to the Handicapped say it loud and clear: ‘We are back,’” says an announcement from the Apostolate to the Handicapped of the Diocese of Madison.

Tom Diehl, the chief executive officer of the Tommy Bartlett Water Show, has again invited the apostolate for a fun-filled time at the water show on Friday, Aug. 21.

Last year, floods provided a tough challenge for the people of Wisconsin Dells and the Bartlett show. But it’s a new year. The show is back bigger and better than ever at Lake Delton in the Wisconsin Dells.

The day will begin with a concelebrated Mass at the show site beginning at 11 a.m. This is a beautiful liturgy with about 20 priests participating. Fr. Kent Schmitt is in charge of the Mass. It is a great event in God’s “outdoor cathedral.”

Mass will be followed by a picnic box lunch and then the water show. The Tommy Bartlett staff will go “all out” to provide a wonderful, fun-filled time for guests.

“This day is about disabled persons getting together for a good time in God’s great and beautiful outdoors. It is about getting outside ourselves and joining with others. It is about having a fun time. It is about people who care. It is about true love in action. It is about genuine respect for life in a visible, concrete experience,” said Msgr. Thomas Campion, director of the apostolate.

Disabled persons and senior citizens may make reservations with Monsignor Campion, Box 443, Monroe, WI 53566. Transportation will be furnished whenever possible. The event is held rain or shine. Guests can be under cover or outside. There is no cost as expenses are paid by the friends of the Apostolate to the Handicapped and the Tommy Bartlett Water Show.
