MADISON — The Madison Catholic Woman’s Club will have lush perennials to share for a donation to St. Vincent de Paul’s food pantry.
The pantry gets heavy use during the summer months, so providing extra funds now is very helpful.

“Life with Christ is a wonderful adventure.”
That quote from St. John Paul II was this summer’s theme at Camp Gray, near Reedsburg.
Incredible as it may seem, in just one week, children in the Diocese of Madison got to experience Mass, prayer, and Bible study, along with games, songs, snacks, and even live theater.
That’s what a normal week at Totus Tuus is like.
MADISON — The Lay Dominicans of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Madison are beginning the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary.
The first meeting will be held on Monday, Aug. 22 (Feast of the Queenship of Mary), in Blessed Sacrament Church, 2121 Rowley Ave., from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. The group will continue to meet at this time on the fourth Monday of every month. You do not need to be a member to come and pray with the group.
This is an apostolate of the Dominican Laity at Blessed Sacrament. Meetings will consist of a 15-minute talk about the Mysteries of the Rosary, followed by the recitation of the Rosary.
Before it begins its official life as a place of worship, St. Cecilia Church in Wisconsin Dells will serve for one afternoon as a musical venue.
“We boldly take initiative to bring love to our neighbors, evangelizing with patience and joy . . . No task is too small in the eyes of the Lord when filled with great love.”

In the famous story of David and Goliath, Goliath boasts to the young David that after he kills him, he will give his flesh “to the birds of the sky and beasts of the field.” He conveys his profound disdain for David by speaking this way, deprecating even his corpse.
This offends our sensibility that dead bodies should not be desecrated, but should instead be respectfully buried. Proper disposition and care of another’s body also manifests our Christian faith in the resurrection of that body on the Last Day.
MADISON — On Saturday, July 2, 2016, the Diocese of Madison lost a holy and faithful servant. Msgr. Delbert Schmelzer served the Diocese of Madison and the Church until the day he died.
As director of the Diocese of Madison’s Propagation of the Faith for over 40 years, Monsignor Schmelzer faithfully served the Pontifical Mission Societies.
In fitting tribute to his commitment to the Propagation of the Faith, Monsignor Schmelzer’s family asked to have memorial gifts directed to this cause.
GREEN LAKE — The Wisconsin Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) will host a family conference, “WIsconsin on FIre,” at the Green Lake Conference Center in Green Lake August 12 to 14.
This year’s conference will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the CCR and will feature speaker David Mangan, who was present at the Duquesne Weekend in 1967, the event often spoken of as the beginning of the CCR in the U.S.
VERMONT — The annual outdoor Mass at St. James, Vermont, will be held on Sunday, Aug. 7, at 12 noon with Fr. Tom Kelly as celebrant.
A potluck dinner will follow at the Blue Mounds View Park in the village of Blue Mounds.
