Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Beloit to hold ‘retooled’ Fall Festival

On September 10, 2020November 1, 2022
Pat Casucci

BELOIT — Change seems to be one word often used when dealing with events during pandemic in 2020.

At Our Lady of the Assumption (OLA) Parish, the annual Fall Festival on Sunday, Sept. 27, was retooled by committee members to conform with safety protocols that have been put into practice on the entire church campus.

Funds raised from the festival are used for the parish and OLA School.

The popular car/cash raffle and (online only) silent auction will be held.

Due to the coronavirus, the Saturday evening entertainment tent and Sunday morning pancake breakfast are canceled for this year only.

Information can be found on the parish website at http://www.olabeloit.com

Raffle prizes

Grand prize for the raffle is the use of a brand new 2021 Chevy Silverado pickup or a Trailblazer compact SUV for two years, or $10,000 cash.

In addition, there are 13 additional prizes totaling $3,300.

Drawing for the grand prize and other raffle winners will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, in the OLA School gym.

Raffle tickets can be purchased from OLA parishioners, from Christofferson Moving and Storage, and the parish administration center at 608-362-9066.

Tickets are $10 each, three for $25, seven for $50, or 21 for $100.

Silent auction items

Because it would not be safe, no silent auction items will be displayed in the OLA School gym, said Randy Gracyalny, festival coordinator.

All the viewing and bidding for the impressive variety of items will be online this year, stressed Gracyalny.

Open bidding for silent auction items will begin around September 20.

Bidding instructions for cell phone, computer, or tablet will be on the parish website.

For additional information, call the parish administrative center.

Among silent auction items are two passenger tickets aboard the S.S. Badger ferry, a used snow blower, gift certificates, sports memorabilia, art pieces, small statue of Our Lady of Good Help from the Marian apparition site in Champion, Wis., and baskets brimming with surprises, according to Linda Gracyalny who, with Tracey Goethe, heads the online event.

Among the silent auction items are those from OLA School’s Spring Fling auction.

That event scheduled for April was canceled because of the pandemic.

“We’re enthusiastic to be able to offer our popular car/cash raffle and (online only) silent auction,” said Randy Gracyalny.
